Winter commuting

Yesterday, as the day became night, the first snow of this winter came to us. The kids and I loved it. Today that snow was slowing me down on my way to work. The ice was, of course, the worst bit with lots of frozen tracks from people riding their bikes in the soft and wet snow yesterday. But I made it to work in a decent time, without falling! Thanks to my studded tires for that. My body and mind was tired, but my legs worked fine and it was good to pedal away the garbage in my legs from yesterdays long ride.

Sundays are my favourite day of the week

Sundays = long ride with company!
Today it was pouring rain so It was only one guy who showed up at the gathering place, Gamla Postenparkeringen. Considering it is November it was very warm with nine degrees Celcius. I had planned a route about 90 km long with about 50-55 km of gravel roads. Those gravel roads was very soft today due to the heavy rain, so it was hard work all the day. My friend didn't have his best day and was suffering for the plus four hours he was in the saddle today. Unfortunatly I forgot my smart phone at home so no pictures from todays ride, but here are two pics from when I had arrived home.
It felt good most of the time today and I'm happy that my winter training has started so well. It's only november but it feels like I'm getting stronger and I also think that I have more in my legs to bring out in spring. I will try to do these long rides on sundays, combine them with some bike commuting and hard sessions on the Monark. Consistency is the key for a great 2012. I ended my elite-ambitions at the end of 2009 but it's allways nice to feel strong, and great fun to race!

That's me on the all new Monark LC7. Thanks to my cooperation with Monark/Bianchi here in Sweden I got the chance to be model for a day. This picture is now traveling around the world on the LC7-folder.

Bike morning = good morning

Having a family of five it's not always that easy to find some time for training. Commuting by bike helps me getting those important training hours without sacrificing to much family time. This morning I got just under one hour of good training, on my way home I'll take it easy. Three days with bike commuting this week gives me about six hour in the saddle and on sunday it time for another "long" ride. Giving me a week total of close to ten hours!

Shame on me

This thing with keeping two blogs alive does not work so well for me. My swedish blog is alive and kicking with about 600-900 unique visitors every day. Maybe that is what's missing here, visitors. ;) Another lame excuse is that I communicate in english on Google+ now, feel free to add me there. I'm still alive though and here are some photos from my phone this autum

Pimped my winter bike with some reflector tape

I have started my winter training and I'm aming to get a little bit faster next year. Still no snow in Sweden though, what's up with that? Now I have started a group ride on sundays, this sunday will be our third ride and I'm really looking forward to that.

Please help me out here, should I continue this blog and what would you like me to write about?
